Dallas Chiropractic Neurologist Comments:
Vacations are important. Why? Because your mind and body need a break from everyday stress. Stress is a killer.
Chronic stress will degenerate your brain, inflame your entire body, screw up your blood sugar, and can even beat down your immune system that you become susceptible to cancer.
Stress makes every health problem worse--fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, migraines, Irritable bowel, multiple sclerosis, neck pain. But...
Stress isn't all bad. I tell people that stress is like a violin string. If there's no tension, there's no music. However if there's too much tension, the string breaks.
We all have stress. Gravity is stress--the kind of stress you literally can't live without. Gravity pulling on your muscles is the FOUNDATION of what keeps your brain stimulated and alive. (Remember your brain needs 2 things: fuel and activation).
I strive to practice what I preach. I never ask my patients to do anything I wouldn't do. Even if it's really hard to do. Like take a vacation.
Taking a vacation is hard for me to do because I'm kind of a workaholic. Always studying, always learning new research and new ways to help people who are sick, hurting, and suffering....finding better methods to truly change the lives of people who have given up hope. People suffering from thyroid problems, stroke, vertigo, autism, peripheral neuropathy, multiple sclerosis...and people suffering from conditions that don't have a name because they don't fit nicely into a diagnosis code.
My wife keeps me in line, reminding me that WE need a break just like you.
We had a truly lovely vacation at the end of September. Beaver's Bend state park in Oklahoma is one of my favorite places. Quiet, beautiful and comfortable. I thought some of you might like to see some pictures.
